Eye Candy

September 28th, 2011 4 comments

Paleo food looks so good, don’t you think?  All the colors and textures.  Much prettier than a plate of chicken fingers and fries.  I really do believe that we eat with our eyes as well as our mouth.  Sure, food has to taste good, but it helps when it looks nice too.  Fried food and bready products are always that neutral yellowish color. Blech.

Here’s some of the food I’ve been eating lately.  All taken with my iPhone, so I apologize for the quality.

On Pause

Sorry for the lack of updates lately. Our Boxer, Ellis, has an infection and a pretty serious case of pneumonia. We’ve been occupied with making sure he’s comfortable and taking his medicine.

I hope to have a new post up in a week or so.

Paleo Inspiration

A lot of people think that eating a LCHF diet is bland, or boring. “There’s no way I could give up my favorite XYZ!” or “Do you just eat the same thing every day?”  Well, I’m here to tell you, it’s not even CLOSE to bland or boring.  Honestly, I had the same hesitations.  I love salty food, and I thought the only way to satisfy my craving was with fried food or bread (an Everything Bagel with Butter used to be my favorite breakfast!).  If you want to know more about my journey into the LCHF lifestyle, check out my primal beginnings.

I love to cook. I love to find recipes on the internet and test ‘em out in my own kitchen.  Last year, when researching this ‘diet’, I thought that eating LCHF was boring.  I would get sick of cooking protein and veggies every night.  How WRONG!?!  There are tons of recipes out there for us and I’m going to share my favorite ones with you!

Pinterest
To keep track of all the awesome paleo recipes out there in blog land, I use Pinterest.  It’s really the easiest way to discover new ideas!  You can view my “primal recipes” board or follow me if you’re signed up.  It’s my virtual recipe box, filled with all sorts of goodies.

Chowstalker
Nom Nom Nom. Can you say food porn? The recipes on this site look so amazing! And it’s only getting better as more and more people submit their favorites.  You can also filter by type of diet restriction, main ingredient, or most popular. This is definitely one of my favorite up and coming websites.

Fast Paleo
I just found out about Fast Paleo, but am quickly falling head over heels for this recipe website.  They feature recipes from different paleo/primal/LCHF blogs, so it’s also a great way to discover other blogs!

Of course, these are not the only websites I visit for inspiration.  What blogs do you visit on a regular basis?  I’m trying to get my Google Reader incorporated into the side bar, but until then, help me by making suggedtions :)
